Senior Business Development Manager

Our Client, Celestia Satellite Test & Simulation BV (C-STS) design, develop and deliver innovative electronic equipment for satellite testing and operations.

Their products are being used by the leading European space companies such as Airbus Defence and Space, Thales Alenia Space, OHB System and the European Space Agency (ESA) to support spacecraft assembly, integration, test and operations. The team comprises 32 staff and operates from Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

We are searching for an experienced Senior Business Development Manager who will be responsible for leading commercial and marketing activities within the company.

Core activities include the design, development and delivery of complex electronic equipment products:

  • EGSE – Electrical Ground Support Equipment used to simulate and test satellite sub-system interfaces
  • TT&C – Telemetry, Tracking & Command equipment used to communicate with satellites in space
  • Optical Digital Converters – a sub-system of optical ground stations enabling data retrieval from satellites sent to ground via laser communication

The main duties and responsibilities include

  • Take ownership of the business development and sales strategy in the European and non-EU space industry
  • Perform sales to existing customers and prospect for new customers, partners, and opportunities
  • Collaborate with company management to develop and refine business plans
  • Build and maintain excellent client, partner and key stakeholders’ relationships
  • Represent the company during meetings, conferences and trade shows
  • Co-ordinate bid/no-bid meetings and lead proposal preparation
  • Maintain CRM records and regularly report the sales pipeline
  • Participate in technical and contract negotiation meetings
  • Perform and maintain competitor analysis
  • Organize participation in trade shows
  • Perform marketing initiatives

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or Business background
  • At least 5 years work experience in a technology company in sales or project management role (space industry is an advantage)
  • Sales experience providing technical solutions and products
  • Ability to manage the BD cycle including prospecting, proposing, closing and further developing of Customers and/or Partners
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is an advantage)
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation
  • Socially strong in building relationships with suppliers, customers and colleagues
  • Autonomous and proactive working style
  • Ability to travel in Europe and abroad (USA, India etc.)
  • You need not be an engineer, but you are able to understand and communicate technology
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology and translate it into solutions that address customer needs
  • Ability to think strategically while acting independently to successfully manage and achieve short-term goals
