An Amsterdam-based brand have created a new role for a Packaging Specialist to work closely with a Packaging Manager as they lead the packaging strategy for Europe. They sell a wide variety of Toy & Craft products and their packaging is paper, card, plastic and cardboard based. Their English-speaking head office is made up of 100+ people from around the world working together in Buying, Merchandising, Design, Ecommerce, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance and other areas. They offer a choice of contracts between a 32, 36, or 40-hour workweek, flexible start and finish times, and hybrid working. The company is passionate about team wellbeing with regular company socials, Friday drinks, their own sports teams, plus free yoga and gym classes.
Working closely with the Packaging Manager, you will be responsible for:
Using your knowledge of packaging legislation to create technical packaging briefs, ensuring compliance with the requirements for all distribution countries
Owning and maintaining the Bill of Materials (BoM) for packaging.
Collaborating with suppliers to gather and validate technical data for packaging materials.
Briefing out mandatory symbols to the graphic design teams to ensure accurate representation on packaging for each distribution country.
Sense-checking pre-production and mass production samples to ensure compliance and quality standards.
Monitoring and troubleshooting packaging-related issues
Keeping up-to-date with changes in packaging regulations and standards across key markets.
Supporting the Packaging Manager in executing packaging strategies and initiatives.
To be successful in this role you will need to have demonstrable experience of working in a consumer packaging role. You could have experience working as a Packaging Specialist, Packaging Technologist, Packaging Engineer or similar title. You will have knowledge of packaging legislation and be able to use design software.
The main business language is English, so you don't need to speak Dutch. This role is open to candidates who are either currently living in the Netherlands or are living overseas and would like to relocate to Amsterdam – the business is happy to sponsor a work visa.
