International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) stands as one of the leading global producers of flavors (Nourish) and fragrances (Scent). Our flavors enhance a wide array of consumer products, including beverages, candy, dairy, baby food, savory items, and medicines. Role Objective

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and manage quality control activities within the sensory laboratory, prioritizing product quality. Additionally, you will analyze and enhance current work processes to drive efficiency.

You will lead and mentor a team of 13 dedicated professionals, fostering their personal and professional growth to ensure strong team and individual performance, ultimately contributing to the achievement of team and departmental goals. The team includes 8 sensory inspectors and 5 quality support staff, alongside yourself.

In this role, you will also identify and manage non-conformities during laboratory analyses, coordinating the necessary research and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Furthermore, you will provide expert support across the organization in qualifying new or modified processes for the production of IFF fragrances. This role involves frequent interaction with various departments such as the Analytical lab, Customer Service, Purchasing, HR, Planning, and Production. You will report directly to the Quality Control Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing the team, including bilateral, performance and assessment interviews around performance, development, and results. You actively give and ask for feedback.
- You have hiring & firing responsibility.
- Coordinating the staffing, setting priorities for the team and, where necessary, adjusting activities in line with the department & company goals.
- Making daily decisions about the quality of samples, considering the wishes of the customer and the end use.
- Managing the quality of the stock; reducing retesting and blocked stock by providing the correct usage and reprocessing advice.
- You have a supporting role around RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) and guarantee the lead time of open analyses.
- Relationship management between the department and IFF affiliated departments worldwide. - Proactive attitude regarding improvement proposals and follow-up on these
- Coordinating and participating in local and global projects in the field of sensory and quality.
- Facilitating, coordinating and performing audits in own departments as well as other departments.

Job requirements to make this role a success
- HBO/WO education (e.g. in biological, chemical or food technology direction)
- 3-5 years of demonstrable and relevant experience in a management position in the field of quality assurance in the food, biological or pharmaceutical industry.
- Good knowledge of relevant standards / safety systems (e.g. ISO, GMP).
