This means you will be designing and manufacturing a test bench that can do tensile tests under a high-pressure atmosphere and then performing the tests on this test bench. Additionally, there is the possibility to dive deeper into material compatibility between metal alloys and working fluids to increase Dawn Aerospace’s knowledge on these topics, like corrosion and fatigue.

This role is based in Delft, The Netherlands, and will require you to be present at the office most of the time. The duration of the internship is 4-6 months.

**Responsibilities**
- Design a test bench for long duration exposure tests of metal alloys under a high-pressure atmosphere, according to ECCS/ISO standards.
- Build and commission the above-mentioned test bench.
- Design and procure additively manufactured test specimen.
- Design and procure instrumentation equipment.
- Perform material exposure tests and tensile tests.
- Work together with external Dawn Aerospace partners to outsource certain test activities.
- Literature study on material science (optional).

**Requirements**:

- Currently enrolled in a BSc. or MSc. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Material, or similar.
- Experienced with high pressure fluid systems, including feed systems, sealing techniques and handling safety.
- Not afraid to do both theoretical and practical tasks.
- Capable to work effectively autonomously and as part of a team.
- Capable to manage requirements. Excellent communication skills.

**It would be great if you are**
- Affinitive with material science and additive manufacturing.
- Experienced with material testing, e.g., tensile testing.
- Experienced with computer-aided design, preferably SolidWorks.
- A problem-solver and able to take ownership of a project.

**About Dawn Aerospace**

Dawn Aerospace was founded to redefine near-space transportation. Redefine how we deliver assets to space, position satellites on orbit, and return things down to Earth to enable the vibrant and circular space economy of the future. To do this, we build scalable, accessible, and sustainable spaceflight technologies - technologies that are sustainable for not just the foreseeable future, but the unforeseeable future.

The company has achieved a series of significant milestones in the past 12 months, including launching 33 propulsion units to space and completing the successful first flights of the suborbital spaceplane, the Dawn Mk-II Aurora. Dawn was named Hi-Tech Startup Company of the Year (2020) and won the Supreme Award for medium/large business at the Westpac Champion Business Awards 2021.

Current customers include the likes of D-Orbit, Blue Canyon, Pixxel, the Indonesian Space Agency, and a large number of yet-to-name constellations. Dawn’s satellite propulsion business is forecast to more than double during 2022. Based on current units in space and in production, we're fast on track to become the number one supplier of green-chemical propulsion systems globally.
