The research intern program is an exciting and vital part of TomTom. You’ll be part of a team of 6 UX Researchers responsible for providing user insights to steer product direction and design. You’ll be researching and shaping how to offer the best digital experiences for B2B customers (e.g., developers, data analysts, product managers, etc.). Your research will inform a range of TomTom location technology products (e.g. APIs, SDKs, and map data) and products created by our partners. Together with multidisciplinary product teams, you will discover and create the best possible experiences, considering business objectives and technological opportunities.

The primary goal of this internship is to gain experience in conducting user research by actively collaborating with various product, design, and engineering teams. Projects may include: supporting a rolling research program, designing and executing an original research study from end-to-end, supporting the development of user personas, and/or supporting the B2B research team increase their organizational and operational efficiency.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn how to present and share your work in compelling ways in front of key stakeholders from different business and product units. You’ll get hands-on experience executing research using a variety of methods to iterate on products and produce the best user experiences. You’re a self-starter, proactive, and a great team player who is comfortable collaborating in and coordinating large international research projects.

Note:

- Internship typically last 6 months (ideally starting February 3).
- 40 hours per week, hybrid model with a minimum of 2 days in the Amsterdam office.
- Includes a monthly stipend.
- This internship serves to satisfy the requirements of an educational program, such as gaining hands-on experience or providing the topic for a Master’s / Bachelor’s thesis. The criteria for meeting these requirements can be finalized upon acceptance.

**What you'll do**:

- Support cross-functional teams with an existing rolling research program (e.g. attend meetings for planning of the test scope, coordinate the scheduling for the usability tests, create research materials, join and occasionally facilitate the sessions with a designer or product manager)
- Designing and executing an original end to end research study from planning, recruitment, data gathering, analysis, and presentation of findings.
- Support the development of user personas, and/or support the B2B research team increase their organizational and operational efficiency.
- Participate in UXR team rituals, as well as Product Organization meetings.

**What you'll need**:

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a concentration in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Industrial Design, Human Behavior disciplines, or other related disciplines.
- You must be based in the Netherlands and be able to travel to the Amsterdam office twice per week.
- Strong conceptual, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Working fluency in English.
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative user research methods, such as usability testing, contextual interviews, observational studies, surveys, usage analytics, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills: align, collaborate, engage, convince.
- A team player who is also confident working independently.
- Solid time-management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks or projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, collaborative tools such as Miro and Figma, survey tools, and online usability testing tools.
