Overview:
The Director of Construction is a key leader of Foot Locker’s store evolution across all EMEA countries that Foot Locker conducts business. Always delivering the highest return on our capital investment, the Director must drive these processes by working with both internal resources and outsourced third party companies. This role will provide added value to the business through constant improvements in the build-out, cost of construction and time to complete the process.

This position reports directly to the Sr. Director, Construction & Facilities, EMEA. The Construction Project Managers of the team will report directly to the Director of Construction.

**Responsibilities**:

- Enhance the customer experience through all aspects of store construction.
- Manage all capital projects in terms of time, cost, quality to business & brand standard compliance
- Construct all required stores within agreed construction program and budget and ensure actual build out cost on a project-by-project basis are within approved limits.
- Oversees the construction contract bidding and award processes, ensuring that they are within agreed guidelines and viewed by all parties as fair, ethical and without bias.
- Source new contractors and suppliers on an on-going basis, ensure diverse and sufficient competition.
- Manage the contractor and supplier relationships and evaluate on going performance
- Manage the contract administration process for all construction projects.
- Responsible for tracking the allocated budget.
- Influence the development and maintenance of construction cost estimating models
- Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the business unit and actively seek to improve processes and procedures.
- Inspect and observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conformed to project specifications and quality standards.
- Informs the construction planning process, including the development of template construction schedules and the sequencing of critical path activities.
- Ensure Health and Safety systems are in place and followed in all Construction Projects.
- Provide actual costs vs. estimate and identify underlying reasons for any variance.
- Ensure financial information for audits is collated and cost assurance processes are followed.
- Lead and oversee overall store construction strategy to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the architectural plans as it relates to the design criteria.
- Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals; understand organization’s strengths and weaknesses; analyzes market and competition; identifies external threats and opportunities; adapts strategy to changing conditions.
- Lead all aspects of the organization’s construction function while adhering to organizational goals and budget.
- Ensure the team can carry out rapid conversion of multiple stores acquisition in any of the countries that we are active
- Trains, motivates, develops, and retains top talent needed to support the overall success of the company.
- Ensure smooth transition of completed store to Facilities team
- Interact with Real Estate/Legal on construction related issues. Assist Legal with any leasing issue that will affect the store execution.
- Oversee and manage relationships with key support vendors to ensure optimal logistics strategies are successfully executed.
- Negotiate key contracts and manage third-party partnerships to minimize expenses and receive best in class service.

Qualifications:

- BS or BA in Architecture or Construction Management, or Technical Engineering discipline.
- Extensive multi-site construction experience, retail experience highly regarded
- +10 years construction managerial experience
- Pan-European experience highly regarded
