Are you ready for the first or second step in your career in event management and ready to take on a challenging and international role? The Events Officer plays a vital role within the dynamic Events Team, contributing significantly to the seamless execution of congresses of diverse scales across global regions. Collaborating closely with the Events Director, as well as engaging with other ISI teams, committees, and external contacts, the role offers a unique opportunity for daily interaction and coordination. As the Events Officer, you will take charge of specific congress activities, allowing for independent and impactful contributions to the overall success of the events.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**

**1. World Statistics Congresses & Regional Statistics Conferences**
- Support project management for the Events Team - currently Trello, MS Excel, Event Management System.
- Manage the week schedule of the Congress including scheduling and coordinating of business meetings and side events of the ISI Associations and ISI Committees during the World Statistics Congresses.
- Supporting the National Advisory Committee and Steering Group.
- Manage sponsors and exhibitors with ISI colleagues and the Professional Congress Organiser.
- Onsite support during congresses if needed.
- Participating with colleagues in the post-event evaluation.
- Keeping a clear administrative record of meetings, decisions and programme documents.
- In collaboration with the Events Director and ISI Director, support in finding future venues for Events.

**2. Social Programme of Congresses**

Organising and managing timelines of formal ceremonies at ISI congresses such as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Awards Ceremony, as well as managing and coordinating of additional social events.

**3. Short Courses**
- Post-event: Feedback survey amongst instructors and course participants.
- Keeping a clear administrative record of meetings, decisions and course documents is necessary.

**4. General Responsibilities**
- Managing timelines of the different activities and sending reminders accordingly.
- Replying to questions about general information and/or scientific information from the general mailboxes.
- Managing FAQs on the congress website and other website content in conjunction with colleagues.

- Experience with scheduling and managing the programme of (scientific) conferences is an advantage
- HBO/Bachelor’s level education

**Employment Conditions**
- Temporary contract for 1 year with possibility of extension to a permanent position based on performance
- Salary: €2870-3706 gross based on 38 hours full-time
- 8% holiday allowance
- Travel compensation of € 0,23 per km or 100% compensation for public transport 2nd class
- Hybrid work: Mondays and Thursdays at the office; other days choice of office or working from home; working from home allowance is € 2,35 per day.
- 24 annual leave days per year based on full-time contract; Dutch public holidays including 5 May and 1 religious day per year from an approved list
- Participate in the ISI pension scheme

**International Statistical Institute**

The International Statistical Institute is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 1885. The ISI's largest event is the biennial World Statistics Congress. It brings together thousands of statisticians in different locations around the world. We also organise the Regional Statistics Conferences, numerous smaller meetings, workshops and webinars, under the auspices of the ISI and its seven Associations.

The ISI Permanent Office is located in The Hague (Leidschenveen) in the building of the Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and consists of a team of 10 people.
