Head Receptionist

**We are seeking an experienced customer service professional to take on a leadership role in our front office reception team. Working in our large international school in Amsterdam where no two days are the same, you'll play a key role at our reception; dealing with parents, pupils, suppliers, and staff, while providing regular support on daily task & special projects to our Head of Operations.**
**This role will appeal to those seeking a busy customer-focused leadership role in a vibrant workplace. Previous experience in an education or international school environment would be beneficial. Good computer skills, strong attention to detail, and proactive approach are essential.**

**Key responsibilities**
- Lead the Reception team and ensure clear expectations about roles and duties have been set
- Act as central communication link between the Reception team and Operations
- Manage staff rosters, holiday cover, support for parent evenings or weekend events when required, and assist with induction & professional development.
- Provide back up and support within the reception team, in event of staff absence
- Promote the school's Child Protection policy and safety of parents, visitors, and suppliers, through strict management of the school's access policy and security of the school building
- Work closely with the Operations Manager on day to day building & operational tasks (with the opportunity for further development)
**Other Responsibilities**
- Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, directing & announcing appropriately
- Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
- Maintain security by following procedures and controlling access (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
- Create and issue Fob/Access cards for staff, students, and approved suppliers
- Assist with coordination of fire drills & keeping emergency fire registers up to date
- Other duties, as appropriate
**Contract and benefits**
This is currently a part-time position (0.6 FTE), working three days per week, 08:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Specific work days to be mutually agreed upon. There may be the opportunity to increase working hours in the future, if desired.

**Preferred qualifications, skills and experience**
- Relevant work experience
- Experience in leading customer-facing staff
- Experience of the education sector and ideally international schools (an advantage)
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong customer service ethos
- Resourceful, positive, good-humoured
- Effective problem solver
- Strong computer & keyboard skills (MS Office, Excel, Google docs)
- Dutch language skills useful
**Job Type**: Part-time
