Do you want to contribute to groundbreaking research that pushes the boundaries of science? Are you looking for a PhD position in which you can turn your curiosity into concrete research results and a dissertation? In that case, the position of PhD in Psychology at the University of Groningen (UG) might just be what you are looking for

Daily stress is often considered a major intervention target, but little practical guidance is provided on how to change stress responses in daily life. One promising avenue for intervention is to target contextual factors or stressors that are known to trigger stress responses in daily life (e.g. working conditions) or modifiable vulnerability and resilience factors (e.g. self-regulation strategies). Our goal in this project is to (1) provide an overview of daily-life stress (response) interventions for the adult (working) population which target contextual, resilience, and vulnerability factors, (2) identify the most promising interventions in terms of both effectiveness and feasibility, and on this basis (3) test two or more daily-life stress interventions in working adult samples. The project builds on ongoing work from the Stress-in-Action consortium and combines a systematic literature review, the analysis of existing cohort data or enrichment of ongoing intervention studies in the consortium, and the collection of new data to test promising daily-life stress interventions. We will distinguish different contextual levels (macro, meso, micro), prevention levels (primary, secondary, tertiary), and demographic subgroups (e.g., younger workers with burnout symptoms, older workers with care demands). The project is part of the Stress-in-Action consortium and will be supervised by prof. Susanne Scheibe, prof. Ute Bültmann (UMCG) and dr. Anita Keller.
