Optimizing Operating Room Resources
The demand for surgical care is increasing, but the supply of operating room resources is limited. This PhD position focuses on designing mathematical models to optimize the day-to-day scheduling of operating rooms and disciplines to increase utilization.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with surgeons and anesthetists to understand operating room workflow
- Analyze surgery duration data
- Develop AI-driven prediction models to optimize operating room schedules
- Design a tool to indicate the probability of overtime for each operating room in real-time
This position is part of the Sustainable Health Program 'Smart OR2030' within Convergence Health & Technology. The project is a collaboration between Erasmus MC, Erasmus University, and Delft University of Technology.
Qualifications and Skills- Master's degree in mathematics, econometrics, computer science, or a closely related field
- Experience with operations research and AI techniques
- Good command of the Dutch and/or English language
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
- Temporary position for 4 years
- Gross monthly salary €3,017 in the 1st year and increases to €3,824 in the 4th year
- Working from home is an option
- Excellent fringe benefits, including a 13th month and individual travel expense package
