Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Officer to join our Operational Support team at MERLN. As a Research Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our researchers in conducting their research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement and inventory management: You will be responsible for ordering materials, items, and articles for the office and lab, as well as monitoring these orders.
  • Communication and liaison: You will serve as a proactive link between the Purchasing Department of Maastricht University, researchers, and suppliers.
  • Lab storage and organization: You will be responsible for maintaining our lab storage and ensuring that materials are stored and organized properly.
  • Research support: You will discuss research needs with researchers, advise them on lab consumables, and provide them with the necessary materials.
  • Lab activities: You will assist with lab activities and help the MERLN communication team with news articles on ongoing research.
Requirements
  • Biomedical background: You must have a biomedical background, at least on HBO level (according to the Dutch Education System).
  • Language proficiency: You must be proficient in Dutch and English.
  • Accuracy and communication skills: You must have great precision and good communication skills.
  • Technical lab experience: Background in a technical lab environment is an advantage.
  • Software skills: You must have knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook) and understanding of SAP/Arriba (our ordering systems).
What We Offer
  • Good employment conditions: The position is graded in scale 7, with a corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €2870.00 to €3771.00 gross per month.
  • Employment contract: You will be employed by Maastricht University for a period up to at least 1st of November 2026, with a scope of 1.0 FTE.
  • Flexible working hours: You will have the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it.
  • Commuting and internet allowance: You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance.
