About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Competence Hub Development Manager to join our team at IKEA. As a key member of our Retail Concept Operations organization, you will play a critical role in developing and leading our engineering capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the competence hub by example, coach, and motivate team members.
  • Be responsible for attracting, recruiting, developing, performance management, retention, and succession plans for software engineers.
  • Take an active role in driving the competence agenda, identifying needs and gaps, and building leadership and competence plans to secure upskilling to meet short- and long-term business needs.
  • Collaborate with Capability and Product Area managers to secure optimal performance through the allocation of right competences to all digital products connected to the area and the capability area goals.
  • Collaborate with relevant engineering networks to set standards and guidelines to secure commonality and uniformity within the area and across Inter IKEA.
  • Establish and manage cost and budget, ensuring continuous optimization of resources to secure business goals.
  • Act as an ambassador of IKEA values and a role model for fact-based business leadership.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of software engineering building blocks, including engineering principles, software development methodologies, secure coding, verification, and quality, requirement management, and product management.
  • Solid technology understanding enabling the understanding of architects, product teams, and individual software engineers' needs.
  • Strong knowledge in IKEA leadership and team dynamics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IKEA processes and organizations, particularly the new IKEA operating model: People, Process, Data, and Technology.
  • Good understanding of how your everyday work adds customer value by delivering results.
  • Good knowledge of retail systems, primarily assigned to the Retail Concept company unit.
  • Experience in project management and vendor and contract management.
  • Ability to lead business through people by demonstrating leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to deliver results through involving and engaging people and building trust and relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to inspire and create a sense of togetherness, belonging, and trust within a team.
  • Ability to represent IKEA towards external suppliers.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, structured, and honest way in fluent English.

Working Environment

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and can be located in Delft, the Netherlands, or Malmö, Sweden. Some travel will be required.
