Senior Legal Counsel

MODIFI GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team in Amsterdam. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of global commerce.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international trade law, with experience in fintech and payments. You will be responsible for providing legal advice on commercial contracting, payments, trade finance, financial regulation, and data privacy.
You will work closely with our Head of Legal and senior management to develop trade financing products, build fintech partnerships, and raise debt and equity financing. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our business operations are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal input on product design and compliance for new product solutions, such as embedded finance solutions for global collections of payments.
- Drive commercial contracting with financial infrastructure providers, partners, and customers to grow our fintech business.
- Advise on regulatory matters, including financial and payments regulations, and data privacy.
- Coordinate strategic projects critical for MODIFI's success, such as equity financing and refinancing of trade receivables.
- LLM and 5+ years of solid experience as a lawyer at a reputable law firm and/or as a legal counsel at a fintech company.
- Strong background in international trade law, with experience in fintech and payments.
- Ability to manage complex legal and commercial projects, including managing foreign legal counsel efficiently.
- Excellent legal skills, including research, drafting, and giving concise and clear advice.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to take a helicopter view on the role of Legal in the Fintech space.
