Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Director, Facilities Operations to lead our site management team and drive operational excellence in our data centers.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will have ten or more years of experience in data center operations management, facilities management, corporate engineering, or other related field. They will be responsible for managing expenditures, staffing, and capital projects to ensure compliance with financial goals. This includes overseeing site operations and capital expense budgets to guarantee adherence to organizational expenditure requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess strategic agility and good decision-making skills. They should be able to build and lead teams and work well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Strong planning skills and the ability to lead through influence are essential, along with a proactive approach and a strong customer-service orientation.
The selected individual will also be responsible for implementing operating standards necessary for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and environmental sustainability. They will manage operations, space planning, power and cooling services, equipment installations, physical security, maintenance, janitorial services, landscaping, business continuity/disaster recovery for site(s). The person will confer with professional staff to resolve operational problems and authorize operational procedures.
Additionally, they will understand federal, state, and local operating regulations or laws. They will establish, implement, and maintain facilities policies, procedures, and organizational structures necessary to maintain compliance with all laws and regulations. Obtaining and keeping current all necessary licenses, permits, and certifications is required.
In this role, the candidate will drive innovation into facilities programs/systems with an environmentally conscious attitude. They will negotiate contracts with suppliers, develop and coordinate maintenance agreements, maintenance procedures, testing procedures, inspections, reporting, and utilize best accounting practices.
Serving as a leader in the community is another key responsibility. The person will participate in community activities and organizations as appropriate through maintaining professional association affiliations and participation within association programs.
Maintaining positive relationships and communication with staff and executive-level management is critical. Ensuring proper training and growth of staff and participating on acquisition teams (when needed) to assess and integrate new facilities are additional responsibilities.
