About You and This Role
We are offering a stimulating opportunity for a Process Automation Systems Technician.
This role is integral to the Process Automation sector within our Technical Expertise and Support team, focusing on software and Information Technology (I/T). The primary responsibility involves supporting process-information systems, which are essential for collecting and storing operational data (such as temperature and pressure) to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
The Process Automation Systems Technician has two key responsibilities: first, to troubleshoot issues within the existing process-information systems on both local and global scales (including on-call duties); second, to engage in projects aimed at the configuration, design, development, and implementation of these systems.
Technical challenges include enhancing system availability and transitioning to cloud-based solutions.
This position also provides opportunities for professional growth from a local to a global role within the Process Automation discipline, contingent upon demonstrated capability.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a collaborative team dedicated to supporting process-information system applications, both internally and externally.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to process-information systems and networks (software and hardware), documenting solutions in a ticket management system.
- Provide both remote and on-site support to address process-information system challenges.
- Test and develop new applications to meet the process-information requirements of chemical production.
- Conduct training sessions for staff, including quality, safety, process control, and environmental personnel, while sharing knowledge with colleagues.
- Collaborate with Project Leads, Manufacturing Representatives, Process Control Engineers, Environmental Engineers, and Process Safety Engineers to develop, configure, and implement process-information installations.
Qualifications
- A technical bachelor's degree in fields such as ICT, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Ability to meet safety training requirements and apply safety standards effectively.
- Proficiency in programming, including scripting languages and T-SQL, with the ability to query web interfaces.
- Attention to detail, particularly in configuration implementation.
- A collaborative spirit, with the ability to perform independently as well.
- Effective communication skills in both English and Dutch at a B2 level, or a willingness to learn.
- Availability for on-call duties during evenings and weekends as part of a rotating schedule.
Desired Skills
- Experience with process-information systems and/or chemical production.
- Familiarity with distributed control systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and industrial communication protocols is advantageous.
- Ability to identify, assess, and analyze issues within process automation and provide effective solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with leadership potential. Proficiency in the local language is essential for support in key locations.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and network components.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems.
