University of Twente: PhD Researcher in Heat Storage Materials

The University of Twente is seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our MICRO-HS project, focused on developing stable thermochemical materials for heat storage. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to advancing the performance and stability of composite TCMs.

About the Project

Our project aims to push the boundaries of heat storage technology using microfluidics. You will play a crucial part in characterizing and optimizing heat storage materials, employing a combined approach of experimental techniques and modeling. Your findings will be instrumental in optimizing the composite architecture, enhancing heat and mass transfer capabilities, and achieving unparalleled power output in the heat storage materials.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will conduct comprehensive characterization studies on core-shell structures and macroscopically porous materials developed through additive manufacturing.
  • You will analyze and understand new aspects of the thermal behavior, diffusion rates, and reaction kinetics within novel composite materials.
  • You will employ numerical modeling and simulation to optimize the composite architecture and enhance heat and mass transfer capabilities.

Your Profile

  • You hold a Master's degree in physical chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • You have strong expertise in experimental techniques for heat transfer and reaction kinetics studies.
  • You are familiar with materials characterization methods such as DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry), TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis), and other relevant techniques.
  • Proficiency in numerical modeling and simulation is beneficial.
