About the Position
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team at VU Amsterdam in the field of biomedical optics. The successful candidate will work on the development of optical systems, novel catheter designs, data processing algorithms, and modeling of scattering and polarization properties of tissue.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research in biomedical optics, focusing on optical system development and novel catheter designs
- Develop data processing algorithms and model scattering and polarization properties of tissue
- Collaborate with our team to bring these technologies to patient care
- Present research results at national and international conferences and in relevant journals
Requirements
- Master's degree in (applied) physics or a related field
- Strong interest in biomedical optics and excellent experimental skills
- Good knowledge of optics and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing
What We Offer
- A challenging position in a socially engaged organization
- A salary of € 2,000 (PhD) and maximum € 3,000 (PhD) gross per month in the fourth year
- An employment contract of initially 1 year, extendable to 4 years
