Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Director to lead our corporate communications team and drive our ESG communications offering. This role requires a seasoned professional with at least 8 years of experience in sustainability and impact communications, either in-house or agency-side.

About the Role

The Director will lead the development and deployment of corporate sustainability strategies for Dutch and international clients. They will advise clients and teams on tone of voice and positioning around material focus areas and objectives, rooted in proof points and company actions.

Key Objectives and Accountabilities

  • Lead a portfolio of Corporate Communication account teams, overseeing corporate reputation programs and developing multi-market campaigns
  • Identify potential leads and areas of growth within existing clients as well as broader opportunities from a prospecting perspective
  • Counsel clients confidently and maturely on communications and marketing, including PR, digital, social and content creation
  • Oversee client programs and drive creative campaigns
  • Write PR proposals and other strategic communications materials to grow existing accounts
  • Lead new business pitches, including developing RFI/RFP proposals and formal pitch meetings
  • Take responsibility for a portfolio of accounts and manage teams, developing junior team members, and line management responsibilities
  • Direct media engagement strategy for clients and coach teams to activate and deliver coverage, leading from the front
  • Manage overall financials, including forecasting, hours allocation for team members, project & plan budgeting, and managing servicing levels
  • Support and develop Edelman's IP and marketing initiatives, helping to develop our position in the market and maximize the role of the Edelman Trust Barometer for existing and potential clients
  • Advise a range of clients across all sectors on matters relating to sustainability, ESG, impact communications, and corporate responsibility
  • Demonstrate empathy for clients, understanding their mindset, challenges, and barriers to success and take appropriate action
  • Balance the needs of the client and the firm with grace and understanding

Salary

$150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience
