Position: European Retail Operations Leader
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Location: Warmond

Are you prepared to inspire and drive success in the vibrant retail sector? We are in search of a European Retail Operations Leader who possesses a visionary approach and a strong enthusiasm for creativity. As the perfect candidate, you are not merely a troubleshooter - you are a catalyst for opportunity, consistently challenging the status quo and motivating your team with innovative ideas.

Your team will include 3 Area Managers and a Retail Operations Manager, with direct reporting to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

You will oversee the comprehensive retail management of O'Neill, ensuring:

  • Maximization of store traffic, units per transaction (upt), and sales per transaction (spt);
  • Maintenance of profit margins;
  • Attractive shop layouts and visual merchandising aligned with our marketing strategy and brand identity;
  • Recruitment, motivation, and skill development of Area Managers, Retail Operations Manager, and store personnel to enhance customer service and sales;
  • Cost-effective retail management to boost profitability;
  • Awareness of consumer behavior trends and retail market developments, translating them into actionable strategies;
  • Analysis of operational business/commercial data from O'Neill to inform strategic and tactical retail decisions;
  • Alignment of the retail plan with the overall commercial strategy, providing relevant insights from retail;
  • Opening, closing, and relocating stores as necessary.

In managing daily retail operations, you will ensure:

  • Adequate staffing across all locations;
  • Employee training and performance enhancement;
  • Regular visits to retail locations to assess sales performance and customer satisfaction;
  • Feedback from consumers and store staff to inform product development;
  • Inventory analysis to maintain optimal stock levels;
  • Negotiation of market-competitive real estate agreements;
  • Establishment and adherence to retail operational standards and health and safety regulations.

You will develop and implement a retail strategic plan, ensuring:

  • The retail strategy aligns with company policies;
  • Organizational needs are met and budgets are effectively managed;
  • Sales targets are established with actionable plans for achievement;
  • The overall aesthetic of the stores is optimized.

You will deliver annual business plans and budgets, defining retail KPIs and targets, ensuring:

  • Development and implementation of retail concepts that reflect the brand vision;
  • Timely delivery of annual business plans and budgets;
  • EBITDA and bottom-line results align with approved business plans;
  • Achievement of set goals and performance management;
  • Continuous operational excellence.

You will provide direction, leadership, and oversight of the retail organization, ensuring:

  • Result-oriented objectives are established with store managers, with performance monitored and adjusted as needed;
  • Clear, transparent, and engaging communication with store managers and teams;
  • Support and coaching for store managers in their development, fostering their talents;
  • Encouragement of cross-functional collaboration with other business areas;
  • Creation of an ideal work environment within teams;
  • Achievement of team performance objectives;
  • Organization of systems, procedures, and processes to enhance performance outcomes.

Who are you?

  • 8-10 years of extensive experience in the retail industry (preferably in comparable business models within sports/fashion) with significant expertise in retail and area management;
  • Strong understanding of financial management and budgeting processes;
  • Affinity for processes and data analysis;
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal;
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.
