Introduction

Royal IHC is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an HPU Energy Efficiency Expert. In this challenging project, you will have the opportunity to investigate alternative methods for controlling HPU systems, with the goal of reducing energy consumption and lifetime costs.

About the Project

The engineering department of IHC SAS-Hytop is responsible for delivering detailed design drawing packages for the construction and delivery of offshore equipment. As an HPU Energy Efficiency Expert, you will be responsible for determining the scope of work and further detailing a design concept phase. Your task will be to investigate alternative methods for controlling HPU systems, with the goal of saving energy and/or reducing the required power supply and costs.

Responsibilities

  • Create an overview of most common HPU used cases
  • Function analysis of each used case and determine the overall cost price, current efficiency, and lifetime costs
  • Overview of possible solutions for each case with overall cost price against expected efficiency and thus expected costs during HPU life cycle
  • Liaising with SAS-Hytop engineers on their day-to-day design and their approach to these areas
  • Liaising with other departments within SAS-Hytop (sales, management) to collect information needed and client expectations
  • Recording the selected updates in the concept design in sufficient detail in sketches or drawings, calculations, and the final report as a basis for further development of the HPU design

Requirements

  • Vocational education (HBO or WO)
  • Study focused on creative machinery design or hydraulic engineering
  • Knowledge and/or interest in offshore technology and preferably understand hydraulic equipment
  • Experience with 2D and 3D modelling (desirable)
  • Good command of the English language, both verbally and written
  • Ability to use feedback to improve the quality of work
  • Ability to work independently and be self-critical
