Introduction to the Role

ASML stands as the premier provider of lithography systems within the semiconductor sector, creating intricate machinery essential for the fabrication of integrated circuits, commonly known as chips.

Our Multi e-Beam Inspection tools are integral to ASML's comprehensive lithography offerings. The Electron Optical competence center located in Delft comprises multi-disciplinary teams that merge Research with Development & Engineering, delivering modules and system designs tailored for Multi e-Beam Inspection products.

We seek a seasoned physicist with a robust background in integrated photonics to contribute to our teams dedicated to electron optical module design and simulations. Your ability to initiate from minimal requirements on a product roadmap or a preliminary conceptual design will empower your team to provide solutions that guide system engineering in determining next-generation tools or assist other engineers in finalizing their detailed designs. It is crucial that your designs are not only manufacturable but also practical for field applications.

Responsibilities

At ASML-Delft, our focus lies in the advancement of electron-optical inspection tools. Operating in a cost-sensitive market that demands rapid iterations and superior quality, we require you to:

  • Serve as a technical leader, motivating and guiding fellow engineers in their technological decisions.
  • Collaborate with project leaders, function owners, and architects on technical matters.
  • Engage in integrated optics projects to investigate the potential of this technology for future multi-beam inspection tools, taking charge of the specification, design, and modeling of these devices.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding the development of photonic integrated chips.
  • Assess the performance of these devices within experimental frameworks.
  • Function as a cooperative team member within cross-functional teams.
  • Produce high-quality documentation.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess an MSc or PhD in integrated optics.

Experience requirements include:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in integrated optics component design, ideally with familiarity in Ansys Lumerical, RSoft Photonic Device Tools, or comparable design software.
  • Understanding of photonics manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in the measurement and characterization of photonic integrated circuits is advantageous.
  • Strong capabilities in technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Context of the Position

The Development & Engineering (D&E) sector at ASML is tasked with the specification, design, and realization of all products within the ASML portfolio, with a dedicated department in Delft.

Within the D&E sector, our department oversees functions, modules, technical competencies, and qualification tools specifically for inspection equipment, particularly multi-beam electron microscopes.
