About the Role:
We are looking for a talented individual to contribute to a research project focused on the characterizing and testing of new polyolefin pipes produced by novel polymer processing techniques. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary setting, collaborating with different disciplines and using state-of-the-art equipment for pipe production and characterization/testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature study of articles/prior arts to identify subjective and objective methods of polymers processing and properties.
- Identify the appropriate testing methods to evaluate pipe performance properties.
- Benchmarking of the selected materials to assess key properties influencing the PO pipes with representative testing methods.
- Perform basic resin characterization and Material analysis, for example GPC, DSC, DMA, etc.
- Production of pipes on novel pilot scale equipment.
- Characterization of the morphology at different stages of the pipe production using WAXD, SAXS and IR analysis.
- Perform data analysis and summarize the findings in a final internship report and presentation to an internal SABIC audience.
Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Bachelor or Master student in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- Curiosity and investigative skills, with a hands-on mentality and structured work approach.
- Ability to connect easily with others and adapt well in an international environment.
- Self-driven and motivated individual.
