About the Job
SABIC is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Application Development and Industry Solutions team in Geleen, The Netherlands.
As a student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a research project focused on the characterizing and testing of new polyolefin pipes produced by novel polymer processing techniques.
Key Responsibilities
* Work in a multidisciplinary setting within the SABIC Technology & Innovation organization to collaborate with different disciplines and use state-of-the-art equipment for pipe production and characterization/testing.
* Conduct literature study of articles/prior arts to identify subjective and objective methods of polymers processing and properties.
* Identify the appropriate testing methods to evaluate pipe performance properties and benchmarking of the selected materials to assess key properties influencing the PO pipes with representative testing methods.
* Perform basic resin characterization and material analysis, for example, GPC, DSC, DMA, etc.
* Produce pipes on novel pilot-scale equipment and characterize the morphology at different stages of the pipe production using WAXD, SAXS, and IR analysis.
* Perform data analysis and summarize the findings in a final internship report and presentation to an internal SABIC audience.
Requirements
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Bachelor or Master student in chemical or mechanical engineering.
* Curious and investigative with a hands-on mentality and an ability to work structured.
* Ability to connect easily with others and adapt well in an international environment.
* Self-driven and enthusiastic about contributing to a research project.
