Position Overview: We invite applications for the role of Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Chinese archaeology, specializing in prehistoric or early historical periods. This position is a collaboration between the School of Chinese and the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Chinese archaeology or a closely related discipline. Preference will be given to those with expertise in archaeological data-driven research concerning macro development trends and patterns in Neolithic or early historical societies. A robust background in archaeological excavations and proficiency in the application of statistical methodologies in archaeology is essential.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in both teaching and research. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction
  • Supervising postgraduate research
  • Engaging in collaborative research projects
