Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Manager to join our team at Ruisdael Observatory of Atmospheric Science. As a Data Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and secure flow of information from weather sensors to TU Delft and individual users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate a small team of scientists, technicians, and support staff to manage and publish datasets.
  • Contribute to the development of custom-made software solutions for data acquisition, processing, visualization, analysis, and publishing.
  • Monitor ETL pipelines and implement quality control mechanisms to ensure high-quality data.
  • Coordinate data management activities with local, national, and international project partners.
  • Manage computers/servers within the Ruisdael network, with support from TU Delft ICT.
  • Provide technical support for software and data management tasks.
  • Write detailed documentation about workflows, software, and datasets.
  • Handle requests for information about datasets and data access.
Requirements
  • Implementation and management of automated data pipelines.
  • Good knowledge of Linux, version control, and containerization.
  • Good programming level in Python, with experience in hardware development using RaspberryPi a plus.
  • Good knowledge of relational databases, data formats, and data storage/transformation tools.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in a small team, coordinate efforts, show initiative, and prioritize.
  • Good level in English (writing and speaking).
Conditions of Employment
  • A salary based on scale 10 of the CAO for Dutch Universities, with a minimum of €3,345 and a maximum of €5,278 gross per month.
