European Patent Examiner in Biotechnology Job Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced European Patent Examiner in Biotechnology to join our team at the European Patent Office (EPO). As a patent examiner, you will be responsible for conducting thorough examinations of patent applications related to biotechnology, ensuring that they meet the necessary standards for patentability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform end-to-end examination of patent applications in the field of biotechnology, including DNA analysis, protein analysis, and gene therapy.
  • Research and identify relevant prior art to ensure comprehensive evaluation of inventions.
  • Make informed decisions on patent grantability, taking into account technical knowledge and legal frameworks.
  • Ensure uniform and effective application of the European Patent Convention and other legal texts.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in a relevant technical field, such as biotechnology, biochemistry, or molecular biology.
  • Excellent knowledge of one of the EPO's official languages (English, French, or German) and the ability to understand the other two languages.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn, with a passion for innovation and technology.
