We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team at the Universiteit Utrecht. The successful candidate will be working on a PhD project focused on the Bayesian evaluation of psychological treatments for traumatised refugees.
The project aims to develop and evaluate innovative interventions for refugees who have experienced trauma. As a PhD candidate, you will be responsible for reviewing existing literature, developing treatment protocols, designing and implementing small-scale studies, and evaluating the effects of the treatments using Bayesian methods.
Responsibilities- Review existing literature on the treatment of consequences of psychotrauma in migrants and refugees;
- Develop and refine protocols for different treatment interventions focused on consequences of trauma and loss, in close collaboration with therapists at ARQ Centrum'45;
- Design, implement, and monitor multiple small-scale studies to test treatment protocols, in collaboration with these therapists;
- Evaluate the effects of the treatments, using Bayesian methods and statistics;
- Write up findings for publication;
- Present research findings at conferences and workshops;
- Be an active member of the local PhD community (attend courses, give presentations);
- Attend classes and seminars (including those offered at other universities) to further develop statistical and research skills;
- Conduct teaching (10% of the appointment) to psychology students.
To be eligible for this position, you should have a Master's degree in psychology or a related field, as well as research experience and clinical experience. You should also have good organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills in both Dutch and English.
About the DepartmentThe Department of Clinical Psychology at the Universiteit Utrecht is a leading research department in the field of clinical psychology. Our research focuses on the development and evaluation of innovative interventions for mental health problems, including trauma-focused treatments for refugees.
What We OfferWe offer a four-year PhD position with a full-time gross monthly salary between €2,872 in the first year and €3,670 in the fourth year. You will also receive 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus, as well as a pension scheme and partially paid parental leave.
