Internship Overview: COO Retail Sustainability Department

A newly formed Sustainability team within the COO Retail sector plays a vital role in ING's Global sustainability strategy, which is fundamental to our operations. Our primary objective is to achieve net-zero emissions well ahead of 2050. We accomplish this by applying effective methodologies to evaluate and enhance our core banking operations through sustainability initiatives, as well as by creating a global knowledge-sharing platform to exchange best practices and accelerate our contributions to the planet.

Internship Role: COO Retail Sustainability

We currently offer a six-month internship within our team, assisting in the sustainability initiatives related to operations. Our focus is on integrating climate action into our banking processes while also contributing to ING's environmental footprint reduction program by prioritizing actions across various regions.

This internship is full-time, with flexibility to accommodate ongoing academic commitments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in gathering and analyzing environmental footprint data, and engage colleagues in initiatives to enhance our environmental performance through campaigns.
  • Support the integration of climate action goals into COO Banking operations.
  • Manage and develop the internal COO Sustainability Intranet community, aiding other regions in establishing their own communities. Collaborate closely with communications to disseminate news internally.
  • Provide administrative assistance for COO Green Guild meetings, events, calls, reporting, project coordination, and documentation.

Your Profile:

  • Master's or Bachelor's (third-year) student with a strong interest in Sustainability/Sustainable Development, Banking Operations, Data Analysis, Communication, and societal issues.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Able to thrive in an international environment.
  • High ambition and energy level.
  • Team-oriented with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in business English is required; proficiency in Dutch is preferred.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a sense of humor.
