OMA's Rotterdam office is seeking an Archive & Collection Intern, providing an opportunity to acquire comprehensive knowledge of the operational framework and daily activities of the archive and collection within a prominent creative organization. The Archive & Collection department is currently comprised of a skilled Collection Manager and an Intern.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the team in cataloging both historical and contemporary works of OMA;
- Organize digital and physical materials for research purposes and future initiatives;
- Manage physical models and prototypes of architectural projects for the archive;
- Collaborate with various departments, including Facility and Architecture, to ensure efficient archiving of architectural resources;
- Engage in various tasks, such as exhibitions, research, liaising with international art institutions, and contributing to publications;
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art history, architectural history, collection management, museum studies, or related fields;
- Proficient in MS Office applications;
- Excellent command of English is essential;
- Proficiency in additional languages, such as Dutch, is advantageous;
- Experience in digital archiving and/or managing physical models is preferred;
- Hands-on and proactive approach;
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy;
- Valid Driver's License (Category B);
- EU work permit is preferred;
- Comfortable working in an international and complex environment;
This internship is structured for 5 days a week, with a standard duration of 6 months. The intern will receive a monthly stipend.
The selected candidate will be expected to commence the internship promptly.
The collection encompasses approximately 80% of the works by OMA and Rem Koolhaas from 1975 onwards. The archive spans a 1500 m2 area and includes a diverse array of materials such as paintings, collages, samples, and both study and presentation models. A significant volume of documentation is also included in the collection and is frequently utilized for research purposes.
