Data Scientist for Ship Efficiency

We are Damen Shipyards, a leading shipbuilder with a strong focus on innovation and digitalization. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in our Damen Digital Solutions team, which is dedicated to making data applicable to our stakeholders.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity is for a talented Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for determining requirements for the application of data science methods to business questions, using advanced analytical and machine learning methods to extract value from business data, building data-driven models and reports to generate consumer insight, giving insights to product-teams through presentation of data-driven recommendations, contributing to the Damen analytical tools, and identifying new business opportunities using data science methodologies.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Determine business requirements for data science applications;
  • Apply advanced analytical and machine learning techniques to extract value from business data;
  • Develop data-driven models and reports to drive business decisions;
  • Present insights to product teams to inform decision-making;
  • Contribute to the development of Damen's analytical tools;
  • Identify new business opportunities using data science methodologies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or econometrics;
  • 1-3 years of experience in data analysis and science;
  • Strong understanding of data analytics processes, data science methodologies, and machine learning applications;
  • Able to distill actionable insights from analysis for non-technical audiences;
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, with familiarity with analytics platforms and tools like DataBricks, Azure Synapse, and Power BI;
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
