Job Title: Assistant Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Operations & Finance department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing financial administration support, salary administration, and system administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Administration (65%):
    • Accurate and timely financial administration processing, including input of payments for approval, booking entries in Aflatoun's accounting system, and providing advice on cost codes and financial processes.
    • Prepare invoices for submission to donors, add cost codes to the finance system, and identify financial issues and risks.
    • Prepare documents, reports, and collect invoices for audit and other assistance.
  • Salary Administration (10%):
    • Coordinate salary administration with the external salary administrator to ensure on-time and accurate payments.
    • Payment of volunteers and interns, and booking appropriate entries in Exact.
  • Exact Online System Administration (25%):
    • Create, change, or remove GL codes, add or remove personnel in the system, and generate reports on time spent.
Requirements:
  • An Accounting degree or certificate, with excellent technical accounting and bookkeeping knowledge.
  • 4-7 years' experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
  • Highly numeric and analytical, with excellent attention to detail.
  • High degree of integrity, process and compliance focused, and high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines.
  • Computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
