Sensory and Consumer Insights in IFF with the Product Experience Global team

International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) is a leading company in the development and production of flavors, fragrances, and ingredients for various industries. Our products are used by other manufacturing companies producing a wide range of consumer goods.

The Product Experience (PX) department plays a key role in product development processes, understanding consumer needs and expectations through sensory analysis and consumer research. This includes tools like sensory profiling, preference evaluation, and product positioning.

As a Data Science Intern in the Cognitive Science group, you will work with PX researchers and managers to develop an automated workflow for routine data analysis and visualization. This will involve:

- Participating in the development of high-quality software that aligns with user needs and business goals.
- Writing efficient code, debugging, and testing.
- Data cleaning, stacking, and analysis.
- Supporting the implementation and rollout of developed software into IFF's system.
- Clear documentation of work so others can understand the code and decisions taken.

Alongside this main project, you will maintain IFF's current panel performance and ballot creation database in PX, following our Standard Operation Procedure. You will also have the opportunity to review and propose future improvements.

Requirements

- Scientific: good knowledge in programming skills (e.g., R, Python), statistical skills (e.g., parametric & non-parametric analysis) are a plus.

- Computer science: being at ease with digital environments, familiarity with software development methodologies and principles (e.g., wrapping and distribution) is a plus.

- Language: mandatory scientific and professional English, written and oral.
- Personal: we are looking for a pragmatic and solution-oriented student with an analytical mindset.

Organization

- Duration: 5-6 months, negotiable.
- Place: Hilversum (Netherlands).
- Training allowance around 500€ a month.
