The Country Sustainability Manager is responsible for ensuring the integration and execution of the Ingka sustainability strategy, People & Planet Positive, by establishing clear expectations for the business and serving as a knowledgeable sustainability partner while ensuring local relevance.
You will act as the advocate and influencer for sustainability, engaging both internally and externally, and positioning yourself close to the decision-making processes within the business.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be accountable for:
the effective integration and execution of the People & Planet Positive sustainability strategy, delineating clear roles and responsibilities within the business while supporting as a knowledgeable business partner, ensuring local relevance.
Serving as the sustainability spokesperson by understanding market consumer behavior and collaborating across the business to establish the People & Planet Positive requirements for the entire country organization, empowering others to take action.
Integrating the sustainability agenda across all markets, customer interaction points, stores, and units.Utilizing approved methods and tools from Group Sustainability to connect with relevant Service Office functions.
Additional Responsibilities:
Collaborating with others to address business challenges with a growth-oriented and purpose-driven mindset.
Ensuring local adaptation of global directions and ambitions. Developing and continuously maintaining an outside-in perspective by monitoring trends, topics, and future developments.Leading conception, exploration, and business case development projects in partnership with Group Sustainability, or when necessary, driving country-specific development initiatives.
Fostering a performance culture throughout the organization.Acting as an effective spokesperson both externally and internally, participating in advocacy activities, events, networking, and empowering others (e.g., country and store managers) to become sustainability advocates.
Ensuring a positive impact on local communities where IKEA operates through a deep understanding of local contexts and co-creating with identified key local stakeholders.
Engaging and empowering all co-workers to create a new IKEA with sustainability at its core by collaborating with the sustainability matrix and sharing key insights.
You will lead a team of Sustainability Business Partners and, based on relevant business cases, time-limited Project Leaders.As part of the Country Commercial Team, you will proactively contribute a sustainability perspective to Country Business Plan processes to ensure sustainability is embedded in the commercial agenda and actively supports the country’s growth and positioning objectives.

The Country Sustainability Manager is part of the Commercial Function and reports to the Country Commercial Manager.
Benefits:
- The salary indication for this role gross per year, including holiday and 13th month, ranges between 70,000 and 94,000, depending on experience.
- A 13th month and 8% holiday pay, typically paid out in December and May, with an option to receive them monthly.
- A collective bonus scheme determined annually, with a maximum of a percentage of your gross monthly salary.
- Reimbursement for public transport travel expenses. For those living within a 5 to 20 km radius from the IKEA store, there is an option for a lease bicycle. Car travelers will receive a travel allowance up to a specified maximum per month.
- A 15% employee discount at all IKEA stores in the Netherlands.
- Various arrangements tailored to personal situations, including transition leave and equal paid birth leave regardless of family composition. There is also an option to exchange public holidays applicable in the Netherlands with non-Christian holidays.
