Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Fugro, where you will work on the design and development of robotic systems and equipment for geotechnical investigation and offshore surveys.

As a member of our Innovation Technology Commissioning and Implementation group, you will be responsible for thorough testing, design improvement implementation, and commissioning, optimizing performance and reliability.

Your focus will be on the design of equipment used for geotechnical investigation and offshore surveys using PLC programming.

Your Role

  • You will design, program, and maintain PLC systems.
  • You will work on electrical and automation aspects of equipment, which can be used onshore and offshore.
  • You will liaise with the design team to review, advise, and consult on practical and safety-related aspects of the design.
  • You will complete technical upgrades and technical manuals.
  • You will be in the lead during the execution of acceptance testing and validation and play an active role in field pilot projects.
  • You will be part of the innovation 3rd line support, where you will solve complex issues related to both hardware and software and be the point of contact for the electrical side of the products.

Your Track Record

  • You have a BSc degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, or reached a similar level by experience.
  • You have experience with PLCs, designing control cabinets, and feel comfortable working on low to high power converters and motors.
  • You are familiar with communications protocols such as Profinet and CAN Protocol.
  • You are familiar with norms for electrical guidelines, e.g., IEC 61131-3, NEN-EN-IEC 60204, NEN-EN-IEC 62061, NEN-EN-ISO 13850.
  • You are fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Experience with EPLAN is considered a plus.
  • Experience in a maritime/offshore environment is considered a plus.
