Computational Electromagnetics Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain advanced electromagnetic solvers, particularly based on integral equation methods, to ensure high accuracy and speed.
- Design and implement new functionality for these solvers, integrating them with optical sensor modeling and machine learning methods to enhance performance and accuracy.
- Develop, test, and maintain algorithms for the Maxwell solver, turning general requirement definitions into functioning modules.
- Communicate complex mathematical principles and algorithmic solutions clearly to internal stakeholders, including the ASML Research department and counterparts in the US.
- Contribute to the development of ASML Competencies and propose new or improved metrics and algorithms that meet internal and external customers' product requirements.
- Review technical analyses from the team and structure team contributions to maintain an overview.
- Consolidate technical-team identity in communication with other departments.
- Contribute to technical product roadmaps and generate intellectual property protecting ASML products.
- Collaborate with similar-minded team members to benefit from each other's specific competences.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or computer science.
- Demonstrated academic or industrial experience in developing tailored numerical algorithms in the physics/engineering domains.
- Experience in code development with EM-simulation algorithms, such as integral equation methods or RCWA, is an advantage.
- Experience in developing scalable codes based on iterative solvers and spectral methods is preferred.
- Excellence in numerical mathematics and affinity with machine learning methods.
- Experience with HPC, Linux environment, and solid knowledge of C++11/Python/Fortran/MATLAB programming languages, and knowledge of MPI is an advantage.
- Good team working skills, strategic thinking, and self-motivation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex physical models and algorithms in a clear and concise manner.
- Decisive and self-initiating in an ambiguous environment, with the ability to influence without power.
- Pragmatic approach and proactive attitude, with a focus on results and a 'can-do' spirit.
