Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Physics Engineer to join our team at ASML. As a key member of our research department, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining advanced electromagnetic solvers, particularly based on integral equation methods, and applying complex parametrized geometrical methods to Soft X-ray (SXR) Metrology.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and optimize Maxwell solvers for alignment simulations, integrated with optical sensor modeling, focusing on speed and accuracy.
- Design and implement new functionality with these solvers, incorporating machine learning methods for accuracy and performance.
- Develop, test, and maintain algorithms, turning general requirement definitions into functioning modules.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly to internal stakeholders, including the ASML Research department and counterparts in the US.
- Contribute to the development of new or improved metrics and algorithms that meet internal and external customers' product requirements.
- Review technical analyses from the team and structure team contributions to maintain an overview.
- Collaborate with team members to benefit from each other's specific competences.
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or computer science.
- Experience with HPC, Linux environment, and solid knowledge of C++11, with familiarity with Python and MATLAB programming languages.
- Familiarity with code development with electromagnetic algorithms, such as integral equation methods, and excellence in numerical mathematics and complex geometry optimization.
- Demonstrated academic or industrial experience in developing tailored numerical algorithms in physics/engineering domains.
- Knowledge of MPI or OpenMP is an advantage, as well as affinity with machine learning methods.
- Affinity with developing scalable codes based on iterative solvers and spectral methods is preferred.
- Good team working skills, strategic thinking, and self-motivation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex physical models and algorithms in a clear and concise manner.
