We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. As a PhD researcher, you will be working on original research in the field of theoretical computer science, with a focus on code-based cryptography.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct original research in theoretical computer science, with a focus on code-based cryptography.
- Develop and implement new algorithms and techniques for code-based cryptography.
- Collaborate with other researchers to advance the field of theoretical computer science.
- Participate in ongoing educational activities, such as assisting in courses and guiding student theses.
- Present research findings at top-level conferences and publish in peer-reviewed international journals.
Requirements
- Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong scientific interest in the theory of computing, particularly in coding theory.
- Strong academic performance in university-level courses in computer science, mathematics, and other related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out cutting-edge research.
- Professional command of English and good presentation skills.
What We Offer
- A temporary contract for 38 hours per week for the duration of 4 years.
- A gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranging between €2, in the first year to €3, in the last year (scale P).
- An extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
- The possibility to set up a workplace at home.
- A pension at ABP for which UvA pays two thirds part of the contribution.
- The possibility to follow courses to learn Dutch.
- Help with housing for a studio or small apartment when you're moving from abroad.
