Program Management Senior Specialist

As a key member of the mRNA Business Unit at Lonza, this exciting role combines the position of mRNA Site Program Management Head and Supply Chain Head of the Business Unit. The ideal candidate will lead the mRNA Site Program Management Team in Geleen, Netherlands, fully responsible for managing a direct group of program managers, promoting a culture of teamwork while motivating, empowering, and enabling them to be fully accountable for their programs.

The incumbent represents the program management team at the Business Unit level, interacting closely with Commercial Development, Business Development, Sales, Proposals, Account Management, and Biologics Supply Chain. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the mRNA Site Program Management Team, focusing on coaching and developing team members.
  • Ensuring flawless coordination of site portfolio execution, allocating program management resources to new projects upon contract signature and handover from Proposals/Commercial Development.
  • Ensuring site PM adherence to Global Program and Project Center of Excellence (PPM CoE) Standards, including data integrity excellence in Planview.
  • Understanding the financials of the Site Portfolio of projects, including target and outlook generation and review.
  • Ensuring on-time and accurate reporting of all required PM data and KPIs.
  • Connecting strongly with the mRNA Business Unit, leading by example in cultivating positive, collaborative working relationships with Commercial Development, Business Development, Sales, Proposals, Account Management, and Biologics Supply Chain.
  • Acting as a core member of the mRNA asset Leadership Team and representing the program management team at the Business Unit level.
  • Managing customer programs, acting as the interface between the Customer and Lonza to ensure delivery and execution according to Lonza and the Customer's expectations.
  • Understanding the Customer's needs and representing their interests by acting as their advocate on-site.
  • Leading and motivating multi-disciplinary project teams and holding team members accountable to deliver.
  • Ensuring Customer satisfaction throughout the life of the program through collaborative relationship management with Account Management/Sales.
  • Developing, managing, communicating, and planning effectively to ensure alignment with a clear understanding of strategic and supply operational goals for the Technology Platform.
  • Ensuring efficient and effective SC business partnering between Commercial and Operations, coordination on supply & demand, and ownership of global divisional Sales & Operations Plan.
  • Defining planning and replenishment configurations and supporting a manufacturing supply strategy end-to-end (from API to finished product).
  • Assisting in the launch of new products by using a design-to-value approach that integrates customer needs and supplier insights into the supply chain.
  • Responsible for the management of escalation for potential supply issues and ensuring bottleneck management, product allocation are implemented, in collaboration with Commercial and Operations to ensure no customer impact.
  • Responsible for inventory management plans ensuring they are in line with the Biologics strategy and financial plans, facilitating the Inventory evolution over the long-term horizon.
  • Responsible for implementation and execution of supply chain ownership of BU-wide S&OP governances and MPS governances.
  • Establishing and operating x-BU supply chain processes, particularly with Business Units DPS, enabling integrated planning and inter-company shipments.
  • Responsible for the performance reporting that enables assessment of past performance and prepares the organization by anticipating the future for pro-active and decision-making.

Key requirements include:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent experience in life sciences or business or engineering.
  • Fluency in English.
  • PMP or relevant PM certification, APIC certification.
  • Highly Experienced in Life Sciences, CDMO / Pharma / Biotech companies.
  • Advanced experience in various supply chain functions related to operations management, production, or technology management.
  • Advanced experience in program management.
