Job Title: Second Officer General Cargo

Job Summary:

Oceanwide is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Officer to join our team on general cargo vessels. As a Second Officer, you will be responsible for navigation and operations on board, working closely with the Chief Officer and Master to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Navigate and assist in maneuvering the vessel under the guidance of the Chief Officer and Master.
  • Perform watch duties, both at sea and in port, directly reporting to the Chief Officer.
  • Support in coordinating deck operations, including maintenance work and conducting safety drills.
  • Oversee the implementation of safety procedures and train junior deck personnel in maritime skills and safety awareness.
  • Maintain navigation and communication equipment onboard, under the responsibility of the Chief Officer.
  • Contribute to voyage planning and checking weather forecasts and ship documentation.

Requirements:

  • Valid STCW certificates, including a valid competency certificate as Second Officer.
  • At least 1 year of experience on sea-going ships, preferably in a similar role.
  • Excellent navigation skills and a thorough knowledge of maritime safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience in handling navigation and communication equipment.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • A team player with a proactive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Able to work under pressure and respond adequately in emergency situations.
