Junior Software Engineer Trainee

As a Junior Software Engineer Trainee at Vereniging Informatiewetenschappen Amsterdam, you will have the exceptional opportunity to delve into the diverse aspects of software engineering.

Over a two-year timeframe, you will engage with various teams within the organization. Experience the process of developing products utilized by a wide range of clients globally and understand the intricacies of crafting customized solutions for individual customers. This role allows you to explore different areas of software engineering and acquire essential skills vital for application development, including back-end, front-end, and cloud engineering. This experience will empower you to evolve into a well-rounded and proficient software engineer. You will have the chance to work with various programming languages such as C#, Python, and SQL. Should you be unfamiliar with these, internal training sessions will facilitate your learning, and you can rely on the knowledge of your colleagues for guidance.

Throughout your traineeship, you will receive support from a performance manager. Together, you will concentrate not only on enhancing your technical skills as a software engineer but also on developing your interpersonal skills as a budding professional. By the end of the two years, you will have a clearer understanding of the type of work that energizes you. The diverse projects you undertake will also allow you to build a network within the organization, helping both you and the company identify the ideal role for your continued career growth.

Who are you?

You possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Econometrics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field, and you are prepared to embark on your first or second career step. You have a strong enthusiasm for both software engineering and mathematics.

Additionally, you have/are:

  • Capable of managing complex tasks and collaborating effectively within a team,
  • Diligent in keeping up with the latest advancements,
  • Passionate about information technology, viewing it as more than just a job,
  • An ambitious individual who thrives in new and challenging environments,
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C#, C++, Java, or similar,
  • Familiarity with modeling is a plus,
  • Inquisitive, adaptable, and quick to grasp the essence of challenges or situations,
  • Currently residing in the Netherlands and able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
