About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Portfolio Analyst to join our team at DS Smith, a leading player in the energy procurement industry.

Your key responsibility will be to analyze and maintain the company's energy hedging portfolio, ensuring it remains profitable and aligned with our goals and objectives.

You will work closely with the Head of Risk, Energy & Commodities to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on energy and commodity portfolios, evaluating their performance and assessing risk.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and market trends using Microsoft Excel.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Analyzing and evaluating financial data to measure the performance of the company's hedge portfolio
  • Developing reports and analysis to support hedging decisions and recommendations
  • Monitoring and assessing market trends and economic indicators to guide hedging strategies
  • Collaborating with Portfolio Managers and Investment Officers to ensure portfolio alignment with company objectives
  • Identifying and analyzing hedging opportunities and risks, making recommendations to senior management
  • Managing and maintaining hedge positioning data and records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and market trends
  • Strong Excel skills, with Python and other programming language proficiency preferred
  • Proficient in trading/risk management software and data analysis tools
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present investment recommendations and analysis to senior management
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience in quantitative analysis and financial modelling
