Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful commissioning of state-of-the-art naval vessels with fully operational automated systems.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing functional descriptions and engineering documents for automated processes;
  • Maintaining specification documents for automation components and installation processes;
  • Writing test and validation plans to ensure compliance with Class regulations and customer requirements;
  • Managing vendors and subcontractors to meet project deadlines;
  • Reviewing and implementing vendor designs in our vessel design;
  • Developing standards and working methods for detailed engineering and commissioning;
  • Providing technical support during proposal stages and commissioned activities under contract.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • 5+ years' experience designing and installing complex automation systems (PLC/SCADA), preferably in maritime or industrial installations;
  • Professional experience working in complex projects with multidisciplinary sub-teams and multiple suppliers;
  • Experience working in a model-based system engineering environment (MBSE) according to the V-model;
  • Bachelor's or Master's level in Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline;
  • Excellent references and EU citizenship for security clearance purposes;
  • A permanent EU passport is required due to the military nature of our projects.
What We Offer

Damen Naval offers a competitive salary of €90,000 - €120,000 per annum, depending on your experience. You can also expect:

  • A 27-day annual leave package and 13 ADV days;
  • A travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre;
  • A PME-pension arrangement with an employer contribution of 60%;
  • Profit sharing based on company results;
