About the Role:
We are looking for a student with a strong background in chemical or mechanical engineering to contribute to a research project focused on the characterizing and testing of new polyolefin pipes produced by novel polymer processing techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop new pipe solutions addressing global challenges such as providing clean drinking water and storm water management.
- Conduct literature studies to identify subjective and objective methods of polymers processing and properties.
- Benchmark key properties influencing polyolefin pipes using representative testing methods.
- Perform basic resin characterization and material analysis, including GPC, DSC, DMA, etc.
- Produce pipes on novel pilot-scale equipment and characterize morphology using WAXD, SAXS, and IR analysis.
- Summarize findings in a final internship report and presentation to an internal SABIC audience.
Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Bachelor or Master student in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- Curiosity, investigative mindset, and hands-on approach.
- Ability to connect with others and adapt to an international environment.
- Self-driven and motivated individual.
