Data Scientist for Aging Infrastructure

What will be your role?In this thesis project, you will focus on developing a rule-based model for supporting prioritization of replacement and renovation decision-making for Rijkswaterstaat using knowledge graphs. This project aims to create a digital solution for tackling four key challenges: aging infrastructure, missing overview of infrastructure objects, scattered data, and limited re-use of existing knowledge. You will work with a range of system components, including schemas, instantiation, rule-sets, and visualization, using tools such as Apache Jena, RDF Lib, SPARQL, and GraphDB.
What we expect from you- You are a master's student in a STEM field, such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, physics, or computer science.
- You have a strong investigative and critical attitude, with a desire to understand the underlying phenomena and their effects.
- You are a team player with excellent communication skills in English and preferably Dutch (B1 level).
- You are willing to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
