The Institute of Political Science at Leiden University is seeking an exceptional academic to fill the position of Professor of International Relations. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team of researchers and educators who are dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding in the field of international relations.

"Key Responsibilities"

  • Conduct and publish advanced research on international relations, with a focus on contributing to the Institute's research programme 'Institutions, Decisions and Collective Behaviour'
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students in international relations, with a focus on developing innovative curricula and teaching methods
  • Mentor junior colleagues and PhD students, with a focus on promoting their professional development and research productivity
  • Play a leading role in applying for external research funding and in the intellectual and administrative life of the Institute

"Requirements"

  • PhD in a relevant field, such as international relations, political science, or a related discipline
  • Strong record of publications in leading journals and/or scholarly presses
  • Clear agenda for future research that aligns with the Institute's research programme and strategic plan
  • Proven track record of winning research grants, leading research projects, and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Experience in designing and delivering high-quality education at undergraduate and graduate levels
