As a key member of the Group Legal Function, you will provide state-of-the-art legal advice on a broad range of topics within private banking, investment fund solutions, and financial intermediary services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal advice on private banking, investment fund solutions, and financial intermediary services, including regulatory advice on general private banking external investment firms and investment fund topics.
- Draft, negotiate, and review agreements related to these areas, as well as implement regulatory and legal changes into the relevant legal framework.
- Manage the legal aspects of regulatory or strategic projects, identifying, managing, and escalating legal risk as appropriate.
- Instruct and actively manage external counsel where needed in a cost-efficient way and in line with the Group process for engaging external counsel.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders to demonstrate the value add of having a lawyer involved early with key matters concerning client management.
- Manage own workload in line with defined priorities and work within the Group Legal Team collaborating with colleagues in the head office in Luxembourg and across Europe and the UK on common topics.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Dutch qualified lawyer (ideally admitted to the Dutch bar) with financial services experience in the Netherlands, preferably with lending, financial intermediaries, and investment fund law expertise gained in-house or at a top-tier law firm in the Netherlands.
- Deep knowledge of Dutch banking laws and regulations, including laws relating to deposit taking, investment services (including MiFID), and consumer lending.
- Knowledge and experience of advising on DNB / AFM regulatory framework.
- Excellent technical drafting skills and willingness to get into the Luxembourg legal framework with respect to financial intermediaries and investment fund solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and drafting abilities.
- Positive, proactive, and team-oriented attitude, as well as perseverance.
- Self-motivated, flexible, organized, and precise.
- Transparent and proactive approach with internal stakeholders.
- Capable of taking on a broad scope of responsibilities and delivering results within required deadlines.
- Familiar with working independently on own initiative to manage workload as part of a small Dutch Legal team in the Netherlands, as well as in collaboration with colleagues in the head office in Luxembourg and across Europe and the UK.
- Capable of dealing with a variety of topics simultaneously and prioritizing matters against challenging deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, and comfortable presenting solutions to stakeholders which are easily understood.
Qualified lawyer (ideally with bar admission), ideally with postgraduate qualification, with relevant professional experience in law firms and/or in the financial sector industry of at least 5 years.
Languages SkillsFluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken). Knowledge of French or German is an asset. You will be required to work mostly in English, including drafting contractual documentation.
