Carnival Corporation and plc is seeking a highly skilled Nautical Instructor to join our team at CSMART in Almere, Netherlands.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified Nautical Instructor to instruct on Training, Continuous Development Courses, and other training events as required by CSMART and in accordance with our quality system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Course Administration, other instructors, and Simulator Operators to ensure a smooth course delivery.
  • Deliver courses according to CSMART's course delivery process and conduct appraisals and course evaluations.
  • Restore equipment and report any deficiencies, and complete and submit post-course documentation to Course Administration.
  • Facilitate the Operational Excellence course and other courses where facilitation is required.

Course Review:

  • Transfer relevant comments from course evaluations to the course review spreadsheet.
  • Transfer any other relevant comments given during the training to the course review spreadsheet.
  • Suggest improvements to the course on the course review spreadsheet.
  • Highlight any immediate changes needed to the course to the Lead Instructor for the course.
  • Assist in course review amendments to the course.

Course Development:

  • Assist Manager Standards & Design in Course Development.

Professional Development:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in teaching techniques and the use of simulators as a teaching aid.
  • Further study the subject being taught to become a subject matter expert.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the subject, including new technology, new Carnival procedures, and new international regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest case studies relating to the subject being taught.
  • Understudy other courses at CSMART.
  • Visit a ship bi-annually to stay updated with ship operation with a focus on the subject being taught.

Requirements & Experience:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in a nautical/technical/environmental related field at sea/ashore.
  • Served as Captain, Port Pilot, Staff Captain with extensive ship handling experience.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of computers and networks.
  • Software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent written and verbal English language.
