Dredging Engineer Internship

We are offering a unique opportunity for students to work with Damen Dredging Equipment in our RD&I department. As a research assistant, you will be involved in reviewing the characteristics of components subject to varying slurry pipe system conditions.

The Role

Our goal is to simulate real-world dredging conditions using an innovative sediment transport test circuit. The circuit can be used for dredge production estimations and wear predictions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing literature on the topic;
  • Designing and running analytical models of physical processes;
  • Negotiating with suppliers of components to be tested;
  • Setting up test programs and coordinating fabrication of specific test sample holders;
  • Executing tests and monitoring results;
  • Collecting and analyzing data;
  • Validating analytical models with measuring results;
  • Reporting and demonstrating to stakeholders;
Requirements
  • Bachelor or secondary education student in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Maritime Engineering, Civil Engineering, Dredging Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Material Physics or Energy Technology;
  • A autonomous, practical mindset and result-driven attitude;
  • Good communication skills and a good command of English, especially in writing.
What We Offer

As a research assistant at Damen Dredging Equipment, you will be working at our location in Nijkerk. You will receive a monthly allowance for the duration of your assignment, flexible working hours can be discussed, and proper mentoring will be available throughout the project.

Estimated salary: €1,200 - €1,500 per month.
