Role Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for enhancing our AWS cloud infrastructure. Collaborating with fellow engineers, you will ensure our systems remain up-to-date, secure, and efficient, thereby maintaining Knab's operational integrity. You will analyze incidents and problems, providing solutions and implementing best practices, sometimes in collaboration with external vendors. Additionally, you will focus on optimizing our Continuous Delivery processes. Your primary objective will be to develop and enhance Knab's cloud capabilities utilized by various value streams.

The Team

You will be part of a talented group of Cloud/DevOps engineers who oversee Knab's IT Cloud platform (AWS) and its ongoing development. Reporting to the IT Service Lead, you will work within the Daily Use stream, which consists of multiple Agile teams focused on delivering exceptional customer propositions. Within your value stream, you will also report to the IT Chapter Lead, allowing you the autonomy to pursue your initiatives and responsibilities.

Organizational Structure

Knab operates through Value Streams that encompass various Scrum teams, operational departments, and support teams. We have two primary Value Streams centered around our Customer Propositions: Daily Use and Financial Freedom, along with a supporting stream for IT Functions and Foundations. This structure enables us to maintain focus and accelerate our delivery processes.

  • Understanding of automation in operational processes;

Desired Skills and Experience

While there is no singular path to becoming a successful Cloud Engineer at Knab, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Several years of experience as a System Engineer or Cloud Engineer, with substantial knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and ideally Azure or GCP;
  • Proficiency in setting up and managing a wide range of IaaS and PaaS services;
  • Networking expertise: VPC, CloudFront, Route 53, ELB;
  • Compute services: EC2, ECS, Lambda;
  • Database/Storage/Cache: RDS, S3, ElastiCache;
  • Familiarity with System Manager, KMS, CloudWatch;
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform;
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps (Pipeline configuration);
  • Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, HCL/JSON);
  • Background in Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management;
  • Experience with containerization and microservices;
  • Strong networking knowledge and experience with network and infrastructure tools such as routers, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls.
