Your Role

As a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our AWS cloud infrastructure. Collaborating with your team of engineers, you will ensure our systems are secure, up-to-date, and performing at their best. Your responsibilities will include analyzing incidents and problems, determining effective solutions, and implementing best practices, often in collaboration with external partners. Additionally, you will focus on enhancing our Continuous Delivery processes, contributing to the development of Knab's cloud capabilities utilized across various value streams.

The Team

You will be part of a dedicated platform team responsible for managing Knab's IT Cloud platform (AWS). Reporting to the IT Service Lead, you will work within the Daily Use stream, which consists of multiple Agile teams focused on delivering exceptional customer propositions. Within your value stream, you will also report to the IT Chapter Lead, enjoying the autonomy to drive your initiatives and responsibilities.

Organizational Structure

At Knab, we are structured around Value Streams, which include various Scrum teams, operational departments, and support teams. Our two primary Value Streams focus on Customer Propositions: Daily Use and Financial Freedom, alongside a supporting stream for IT Functions and Foundations. This structure allows us to maintain focus and accelerate our delivery processes.

Desired Skills and Experience

While there is no single path to becoming a successful Cloud Engineer at Knab, we envision the following qualifications for this role:

  • Several years of experience as a System Engineer or Cloud Engineer, with a solid understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and preferably Azure or GCP.
  • Proficiency in setting up and maintaining a wide range of IaaS and PaaS services.
  • Networking expertise, including VPC, CloudFront, Route 53, and ELB.
  • Experience with compute services such as EC2, ECS, and Lambda.
  • Knowledge of database, storage, and caching solutions like RDS, S3, and ElastiCache.
  • Familiarity with tools such as System Manager, KMS, and CloudWatch.
  • Ability to write infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, particularly in pipeline configuration.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and HCL/JSON.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management.
  • Experience with containerization and microservices.
  • Strong networking knowledge, including experience with routers, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls.
